I've started 2016 with a BANG, by taking up the '30 Paintings in 30 Days' Challenge!!! Whew! I'm 10 paintings in (YAY for being a few ahead of schedule!) and thought I'd take a minute to fill you in on my paint-filled January. This is a worldwide 'thing', artists from all over the globe have committing to this goal of painting 30 paintings in 30 days. Click here to find other artists who are participating. I've heard of the '30 in 30' before, but this is my first time trying it. My teaching commitments are a lot lighter this month, so it was the perfect time to jump in!
I heard from several people that choosing a theme is super helpful in doing the '30 in 30'. Since I was wanting to do a bunch of still life paintings this winter, I eventually settled on 'Trader Joe's' being my theme. I love the flowers there, but didn't want to be limited to doing 30 paintings of just flowers, so expanded the theme so I could include images from the store, produce, bread...so still pretty broad, but yet a doable theme. :) It seemed strange to me at first to declare 'Trader Joe's' as my theme...but now that I'm a third of the way in...I'm realizing that it's perfect and I'm having SO MUCH FUN! :) Eventually all of my 30 Trader Joe paintings will show up here on the blog....but if you'd like to follow me more closely and see what I'm painting each day, you can do that by either following me on my Jessica Green Artwork Facebook page and/or find me on Instagram [jessicagreenartwork]. Below are a few samples of what I've done so far!
