Let's just say, I started 2016 off with a BANG! :) '30 Paintings in 30 Days' Challenge was started by artist Leslie Saeta and she invites artists from around the world to join for this month-long goal. She's hosted this challenge several times before, I believe, but this was my very first time to try it. It's all in the spirit of discipline and growth, there aren't any rules...the artist can interpret or structure the challenge however they would like. I had just come off of my 'Brushstrokes of Geist' show at the end of 2015, so I was looking for a new project, plus my teaching commitments really slow down in January, so the timing was perfect!
I had read that it works well to choose a theme for the '30in30'...I ended up choosing 'Trader Joe's' as my theme! [I know choosing a grocery store is a bit unusual...see, I love their flowers...but didn't want to be stuck with doing 30 flowers paintings, so I expanded it to being the store itself.] It turned out to be a wonderful theme: I was able to use lots of COLOR, use my still life stage, and also buy beautiful flowers and food as business expenses. ;) The challenge was great for getting me into a painting routine. I doubled up a few days over the month so I would have some days off. Around day 19, I was feeling burned out...but I was able to push through and by the end, I had a lot of paintings that I'm super proud of! YAY! I'll be posting all 30 of my paintings here on the blog for the next 30 days....Enjoy! :) Want to see how other artists accomplished during the 30in30 Challenge??? Click here to see.
