I dedicate this painting to any one who is under the false impression that Indiana is boring or in any way not as beautiful as other parts of the country. Turkey Run State Park will be be my first piece of evidence in this agrument. haha This is definitely on my list of places we need to hit this spring/summer! It's been a few years since we've been...definitely overdue! Indiana or not, the truth is there is an enormous amount of beauty to be found in all around us, really...no matter where we live! What a gift that we can live in such an masterfully created world. I am continually amazed at God's goodness and artistry!
A very special thanks for my friend Kelly for letting me use this gorgeous photo of hers as my reference photo. THANKS KELLY! :)

Look familar? This is very similar to one I just just a few paintings ago. I loved the composition, but wasn't thrilled with my first attempt...wanted to give this one another try. I like how I was able to keep the brushstrokes nice and LOOSE! It's tricky to do, but I'm pleased with this one! :) You can see my reference photo below...decided to leave the spoon and dark blue paper out this time. :)
This was my first attempt...which do you like more?!
Painting No. 177, oil on hardboard, 6x6in SOLD Here's my plant 'Mark' again, now from a different angle. Love this little plant! :)
Painting No. 176, oil on hardboard, 6x6in $40, Click button below to purchase I painted this as a part of a Daily Paintworks Challenge. Click on this link to see how other artists depicted stormy skies. http://www.dailypaintworks.com/challenge/the-stormy-weather-challenge/259
For those you not familiar with Daily Paintworks, it's sort of an online gallery for artists living all around the world. When you log onto their website, you see new artwork posted by these artists (me included) everyday! It's really fun! There are neat features to the website besides viewing awesome art, and some of those 'perks' are the art tutorials called 'ArtBytes' and also the Challenges. If you've been following my journey for a while, you know that I struggle sometimes with finding what to paint. These challenges are helpful in generating ideas for me...it's like getting an assignment from a teacher on what to do, but even better because you only do it if you WANT to! ;) It's also fun to see how artists interpreted the assignment differently....check it out!
