This is a project that I did for a friend of mine not too long ago. Her two daughters share a bedroom. They had purchased an 'Emma' painting and had it on the wall, but when baby Ellie joined the family, they couldn't find another one to match...so she asked me to create and Ellie painting for the room. I actually loved having a break from my normal painting, plus it was a fun challenge.
I didn't get to this project right away, in fact, I kept forgetting about it. The Emma painting that I used to replicate, kept getting accidently buried under papers and junk in our office area. When I finally remembered and got on task, noticed that Bryce, my 2-yr old, had scribbled pen all over the painting. Oh great! :( Luckily with the help of a Magic Eraser, I was able to get the pen mostly off....but it turned out that Bryce did indeed help me. Since the Emma painting was badly faded (from scrubbing the pen off), I ended up repainting it which helped get the two to match almost perfectly.
Painting No. 118, 6x6in, oil on hardboard
For this painting, I used a photo that I had taken while I was in Mexico about eight years ago while there for my brother Doug's wedding. I am really drawn into the color, I love aqua, teal,...anything in that blueish greenish realm! It was also fun to try a subject different from my norm! :)
