Painting No. 42, 6x6in, oil on gessoboard
Okay folks, I'm officially announcing a month-long break from my 500 Journey...this will build some space for our moving, plus my teaching business is requiring a lot of my attention right now too. Luckily the new house will have more space for me to paint and I cannot wait to jump back into painting once we're more settled in September. Thanks! -Jessica :)
Painting No. 41, 7x5in, oil on gessoboard
You may have noticed that I've slowed down a bit with posting paintings....it's been a busy summer at the Green house with teaching art camps and plus we are moving houses (which has got us running around like crazy trying to get our current house ready to sell)! ahhh! I haven't been able to meet my three-paintings-a-week goal lately, but hopefully I'll be back up and into a good groove again soon. I try to stay ahead of the blog by several paintings....so I'm happy to announce that I have 50 paintings under my belt...10% completed! :)
This little painting might look familar if you've been following my journey. I used the reference photo I took during 'The Gathering' plein air painting event. I love the color aqua! And the large version of this painting won an award and was sold, which was super encouraging...so it was fun to revisit the aqua chairs and create a little 'daily painting' out of it. :)
There aren't too many sights more delightful to a tired-out mother of little ones than a comfy bed! ha ha This was another Daily Paintworks challenge. :)
Painting No. 39, 6x6in, oil on gessoboard
One neat thing thing about being a part of the Daily Paintworks community is that there is a section for artist 'challenges'. This is especially helpful when I am lacking inspiration and just don't know what to paint. This one was a simple challenge; there was a black and white photo provided of these two piggie banks that you could use (or you could use another reference as long as it was a pig theme.) I'm really happy with how mine came out. I was able to keep the brushwork angular and it was also really fun to do. This might be my favorite painting in my journey so far! :) Click here to see how other artists' work who submitted work in the paint-a-pig challenge.
Check out the new tab on the website 'Buy Frames'....you'll see the nifty frames that Wes is making, they are PERFECT for displaying my 5x7 or 6x6 little paintings. You will even see a video of me showing you exactly how they work. (Please excuse the awkwardness of my video debut...I was not made for the screen! ha ha)
Painting No. 37, 14x11in, oil on gessoboard
This was one of the paintings I did at The Gathering (Hamilton Co. Art Association), Plein Air painting event about a month ago. It took several hours to do. Since I've been in the habit of painting small (6x6 or 5x7) this 11x17 seemed like a mural to me! :) It was tricky because the light kept changing...but I was happy with the result. Plus it was a sweet surprise that this painting won a purchase prize for judging the next day.
Welcome to my blog!
I'm on a mission to paint 500 paintings. How long will it take? What will I learn along the way? Join me on the journey and follow my progress!
