After living in our house for a year and a half, I have finally filled my blank wall above our couch! :) It took me awhile to come up with an idea to fill the space, but finally came up with this! I'm really happy with how this project turned out. My husband was able to get this pallet from his work, which worked out great. I just love the texture it adds to the room. I originally thought that I'd make two pallet signs, one for Christmas and the other for 'year round', but then decided to choose a verse that would work well for both (then I could just make one!). I love this verse, it gives me a lot to think about, when I reflect on different chunks of it...and what a great visual reminder for our household that we are centering our lives on Christ!
Some people have asked how I was able to get the letters so exact...the large white script I did free hand onto the wood, but looked at something printed off the computer as a reference. For the black and dark red lettering, I printed these off on computer paper. Then I scribbled pencil onto the back of the sheets, lined them up on the wood (and taped them in place). Then I traced the letters using a pen and finally painted the letters in with acrylic paint. I've had several people ask if I'm selling these or not....ummm, I haven't decided. It was a but of a paintstaking process, and even though I'm super pleased with how this turned out, I'm not chomping at the bit to make another one in the near future! haha
